5 Family-Friendly Places We Love Visiting in South Austin

Summer is here and we have to admit we cannot wait. Last summer Ivy was just a couple months old so most of the season was spent indoors, at home. We’re so excited to be able to spend this summer out and about, with friends and family, doing the things we love. And we already have a list of places we definitely plan on visiting. Here are five of our tried and true local Austin hot spots we love to visit as a family in South Austin.

`1. El Alma - We’ve said it once, we’ll say it again: El Alma is our favorite restaurant, like ever. It’s where we’ve had so many great conversations, fun times, and delicious meals. We love sitting out on their rooftop patio, enjoying a drink and planning our next big project. You can find us at El Alma often, so if you ever see us we’d love for you to come say hi!

2. Cosmic Coffee - Cosmic Coffee is so much more than just a coffee shop. They offer live music, an assortment of food trucks, beer, wine, cocktails, and yes, amazing coffee. We love hanging out at Cosmic with friends and listening to awesome tunes while Ivy claps along. If you’re a South Austin resident, then chances are this place is at the top of your list.

3.  Kerbey Lane - Our favorite breakfast in town is to be had at Kerbey Lane Cafe South Austin location. The food is always on point and the kid-friendly atmosphere makes for a stress-free family outing.

4.  Garrison Park - We love visiting Garrison Park for walking, picnics, and enjoying time outdoors. This sprawling park has sports fields, a swimming pool, and playgrounds that we know Ivy will fully take advantage of when she’s a little bit older. For now, we like watching the big kids play.

5. Wildflower Center - The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is an Austin gem. It is Texas’ state botanical garden and arboretum and boasts over 900 species of native Texas plants. Spanning over 280 acres, the center has easy-to-follow walking trails, making it easy to take Ivy in the stroller to explore.
