Accessibility

I want this site to work for everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboards instead of a mouse, magnification, or reduced-motion settings. Here's the standard it's built to and how to reach me when something falls short.

The standard

The site targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA. In practice that means: every page can be navigated by keyboard alone with a visible focus indicator; text and background colors meet the AA contrast ratios; images that carry meaning have text alternatives; the map schematic has a written description of the geography for anyone who can't see the drawing; collapsible sections work without a mouse; and motion respects your device's reduced-motion setting, so if you've turned animation off, the site stays still.

These aren't promises held by good intentions. The build has automated checks that fail if contrast, keyboard paths, or motion rules regress, and they run before anything publishes.

What's still being worked on

Automated checks catch a lot, but not everything. Testing with real assistive technology is ongoing. If a page, a calculator, or the map gives you trouble, I'd rather hear about it than guess.

Third-party content

Documents I self-host from government sources (FEMA, TCEQ, TREC forms) are the originals, and some are scanned PDFs that aren't fully accessible. If you need the information in one of them in another form, ask and I'll help you get it.
